Montreal couple's Photoshoot on FILM
There is something about the Old Port of Montreal that just belongs on film. The historic architecture, the light bouncing off the stone walls, and those iconic cobblestone roads—it’s a vibe that digital can’t quite touch.
While I’ve been shooting in this neighborhood for years, I’ve recently been looking back through my archives and realized just how much my heart stays with the photos captured on 35mm film. This post is a curated look at why I’m so obsessed with analog for engagement sessions.
I love the entire process- the mechanical click of the shutter, the intentionality of every frame, and that unmistakable film grain that makes a photo feel like a memory from a different era. Whether it’s a quiet, sun-drenched morning or capturing a couple’s love amongst the "hustle and bustle" of a busy afternoon, film adds a layer of raw, cinematic emotion that is truly unbeatable.
From Architecture to Espresso
All of these photoshoots take us on a stroll through Old Montreal’s most architecturally impressive corners before ending somewhere classic. One of my favorite ways to wrap a shoot is at Café Olimpico. There is nothing better than grabbing a cannoli and an espresso for those perfectly unposed, candid film shots.
Pro Tip: If you’re currently planning your 2027 Montreal wedding, Café Olimpico actually offers catering services! They can set up a coffee stand at your reception to give your guests a little caffeine pick-me-up once the party kicks into high gear. 10/10 recommend.
Let’s Create Something Timeless
